Stringing FAQs

What tension should my racket be strung at?

For beginners, we recommend 20 - 23lbs as this gives the racket a larger sweet spot and has more repulsion without the need to swing hard.
Intermediate players who can hit the sweet spot most of the time we recommend 24 - 26lbs, this increases the controllability and accuracy of your shots but will require a little bit more power.
Advanced players who are skilled, and hits the sweet spot consistently while generating good power, we recommend 27 - 29lbs.
Everyone else, you probably know what you use already!

What string should I use?

Strings are super important and it will depend on your style of play and preference.
There are 4 qualities to strings which can help you decide if they're suitable for you. Durability, repulsion/resilience, hitting sound and control.

Strings with a thinner gauge (thickness) will have more repulsion/resilience and a better hitting sound, however they may have less controllability due to the short contact time of the shuttle. Their durability are typically lower as well.

Thicker strings will tend to have better controllability and better durability but your attacking may not be as lethal/fast and can sound less satisfying.

How long does a stringing job take?

Typically it takes between 2 - 5 days for your racket to be complete.
We provide urgent service, subject to availability and extra costs apply.

Can I string my racket above the manufacturer's recommended tension?

Manufacturers provide recommended tension for each of their rackets. Stringing above the recommended tension will void warranty.
Some rackets on the market are designed to withstand high tension, take a look at our range to see which ones can handle higher tensions!

Why do grommets need replacing?

Grommets are the only thing stopping the string from breaking your racket over time- so they're super important!
They cushion the string from making direct contact with your racket. Without grommets, the holes in your racket will get damaged and eventually crack and pull through over time.
Over time, the grommets will wear and eventually break and stop protecting your racket.
We check all grommets prior to the stringing job to ensure no damage is done to your racket and we replace the broken ones with high quality ones.
If we need to replace all grommets, a small fee will incur.

Why do my strings break so fast?

Strings wear out from playing, due to the friction and impact of hitting the shuttle.
However, you may experience strings breaking pre-marturely from mis-hitting the shuttle or damaging the strings.
Mis-hit is when the shuttle makes contact with the racket outside of the sweet spot. This is most commonly done to the top or bottom of the racket, but can also happen on the sides.
Strings can also break earlier than expected when rackets are misused/carelessly handled- picking up the shuttle with the racket and scrapping on the floor etc.
